Overview

Position Summary

The Vice President, Human Resources works closely with the company’s EVP of Human Resources and Strategic Leadership Team to execute a successful human capital strategy for the business. With direction from the EVP of Human Resources and support from the HR Centers of Excellence (COE), this role will assist with full-service human resources.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the EVP of Human Resources on the development and implementation of long- term strategic initiatives that create sustainable competitive advantage and drive growth and profitability
  • Ensure HR transactional and compliance/regulatory policies governed by the COEs are implemented and followed by facility HR Managers.
  • Assist business leaders with understanding how to optimize their partnerships with facility HR business partners, corporate HR functions and HR COE teams to obtain full-service HR for their teams.
  • Provide expertise to senior leadership as it pertains to learning and development, performance management, employee experience and engagement, and senior leadership development, and succession planning.
  • Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with employees and leaders in all areas of the organization, channeling multiple perspectives to guide strategic recommendations, providing candid feedback to best service the company.
  • Utilize business metrics to be informed on opportunities wherein innovative people solutions can be developed and leveraged to optimize business results.
  • Advocate and promote HR initiatives and programs that align with company goals, values, and mission.
  • Partner with EVP of Human Resources to create efficiencies through deployment of HR best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Consult, advise and execute on priorities through all stages of the Employee Lifecycle.
  • Conduct ad hoc reviews as directed and propose recommendations in handling employee relation(s) issues, HR practices and procedures and, with guidance, provide support and education to facility HR Managers.
  • Collaborate and assist EVP of Human Resources on organizational effectiveness and HR partnering change management efforts associated with reorganizations, mergers/ acquisitions, and transfers to ensure success and compliance.
  • Assist EVP of HR with investigations and mitigation of risk ensuring appropriate escalation and processes followed and documented.
  • Protect the interests of employees in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable governmental laws and regulations
  • Facilitate the adoption of HR policies and practices and educate leaders and managers regarding HR capabilities.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Human Resources, supporting multiple different functions of HR.
  • Previous experience as an HR leader within a protein plant or manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or equivalent.
  • Advanced understanding Federal and State laws, including but not limited to ADA, FMLA, state paid leave programs, wage and hour requirements, etc.
  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP desired.
  • Experience designing, building, and implementing HR functional programs, policies, tools, and procedures and working with and/or in a Shared Services, COE model.
  • Advanced knowledge of HR and employment laws/regulations to effectively make recommendations on compliant courses of action.
  • Fluency across a variety of HR disciplines, including organizational development, leadership and talent development, HR process design, compensation management, HR administration and compliance.

  • Demonstrated effective leadership and change management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, with a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with all levels of management, colleagues, front line employees, and vendors.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to deal with and resolve ambiguous, confidential, and sensitive situations and issues of a complex nature while providing practical and effective solutions.
  • Organized with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage shifting responsibilities in a dynamic, cross-functional teamwork environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, excellent verbal, and written skills.
  • Previous management experience with the ability to effectively manage performance, engage team members, provide coaching, and respond to situations affecting staff.
  • Strong business acumen, in-depth knowledge of the business and client group, and the ability to effectively implement HR strategies to support business goals.
  • Complex problem-solving skills including Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Critical thinking skills including, logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Summary

America's Heartland Packing is set to open its doors in early 2025. The 775,000 sq. ft. greenfield project will include a harvest floor, carcass chillers, fabrication area, rendering, further processing area, storage coolers, freezers, and loading docks.
